It happened 38 years ago Photo 4.jpg

This from an article named: "It Happened 38 years ago!"

Thirty-eight years ago, on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving, Prof. John M. Wilson brought his Black Star girls basketball team (Photo 2) to Jamestown to play the Jamestown High School girls quintet (Photo 1). On a recent trip back to this Harlan County community, Mr. Wilson, new Russell County Judge, found five members of this 1929 team and had his picture taken with them. He also located a picture of the team taken in 1929: and Mrs. K. S. Lester (the former Nellie Coffey) also had a picture of the 1929 JHS team that she was kind enough to let us have. So here we are - (Photo 4) and what a difference 38 years can make! (Black Star won 14 to 8, according to a clipping from the Russell County News of December 5, 1929).
